True Life Stories from Scholarship Recipients

From our college scholarship recipients:

"... I am extremely honored to be a recipient of the Capital One Bank Scholarship. Your sponsorship has made it possible for me to seek knowledge and greatness at Susquehanna University, where I will major in Business Administration. By easing some of my financial burdens, you have provided me with more time to concentrate on my studies and, for that, I will always be grateful to you, Capital One Bank, and the Jefferson Dollars for Scholars program..."                                                                                         ~Helen Cox graduate, Class of 2009

"...School is going great. The first semester, I made the Dean's List. ... I am so excited and cannot wait for my sophomore year of college to start. This is the first time in my life that I have been this excited to go back to school. I actually enjoy going to my classes and hearing what my professors have to say. I always see it as an adventure. ... I want to thank you again for the scholarship. The money is so helpful. I hope to make you proud and eventually become an elementary teacher."                                   ~Higgins Graduate, Class of 2008

"You will be happy to know...that my scholarship money from Loyola University has increased due to... a higher ACT score. Thanks to your very "unique" class and a LOT of studying, I have managed to pull my score up. Not only did I score high enough to qualify for TOPS, but I scored three points higher..."                                                                                                                                               ~East Jefferson graduate, Class of 2008

Hear from some recipients about their summer experience:

"I had so much fun at Toni B Avid Center. ... I made a lot of friends. My dance performance was June 25, 2010. My mom and sister came to watch me. First, we did our speech and stances and also runway walks. After that, we did our play about America's Next Top Model. Then we did our dance. It was so much fun. I just want to do it all over again. Thank you for this wonderful opportunity.                                        ~Pitre Elementary, 2010 recipient

"Thank you for giving me the scholarship to summer camp. I had a great time. I made new friends and learned about so many things. I had lots of fun. Thank you."                                                                                                                                          ~Pittman Elementary, 2010 recipient, attended JPS Summer Arts Camp
